Acharya Charaka in his ayurvedic text, mentions the following factors as causes for low quality of shukra dhatu or semen which leads to male infertility.

  4. Diseases
  5. physical and mental Exertion
  6. Fasting
  7. Over indulgence in sexual act and repeated ejaculations

Major cause for male infertility is low sperm count, low sperm motility and a large number of malformed or abnormal sperms. Various environmental and biological factors affect the sperm count. Numerous ways are explained in ayurveda to increase sperm count, sperm motility and thus increase fertility of men.

  1. Maintain Good Health After 30 With Vajikarana Therapy
  2. Avoid Overheating and trauma to Testicles
  3. Pay Attention to Weight Loss. Obesity may lead to low sperm count
  4. Abhyanga – Oil Massage Body Twice in a Week
  5. Follow Ayurvedic Routines like dinacharya (ayurvedic daily routine) and ritucharya (ayurvedic seasonal routine)
  6. Avoid Very Frequent Ejaculations
  7. Keep Constipation (malabaddhata) at Bay
  8. Avoid smoking, alcohol and drugs.
  9. Exercise regularly. A brisk walk for 45 minutes is the best exercise.
