What is Psoriasis ?
The name Psoriasis is derived from Greek word ‘Psora’ which means ‘itch’. These causes also act as triggering factors. Texts of Ayurveda also refer to the involvement of hereditary factors as cause.

Ahara or Food or Ayurvedic Diet for psoriasis:
Food when consumed in a right manner acts like a medicine. Texts of Ayurveda emphasises on diet which help to balance doshas and expel accumulated body toxins. This constitutes psoriasis diet.
Vegetables for psoriasis

Honey for psoriasis:
Consume honey directly in limited quantities. Do not heat or mix it with vegetables, fruits, meat and spices.
Curd for psoriasis:
Avoid curd as far as possible. Mixing curd with meat, fish, long pepper, vegetables and fruits should be avoided.
Milk in psoriasis:

Ghee for psoriasis :

Grains have anti-inflammatory effect. Whole wheat, brown rice, oats, minor millets are very helpful in psoriasis. Avoid refined flour.
Meat, Sea foods and fish-
Choose lean meat. Avoid red meat or fatty meat. Sea foods and fish contain omega-3 fatty acids. These can be generally used in psoriasis. But these foods may trigger psoriasis in very few.
Sugar and Jaggery –
Sugar and jaggery are worst foods for psoriasis. According to texts of ayurveda they increase kapha and initiate inflammatory process in body.
Lifestyles for Psoriasis: Do regular exercises like brisk walking for 45 minutes daily. Avoid cold-water bath immediately after a heavy work out, brisk walk etc. Drink plenty of water. Avoid alcohol, smoking and drugs. Keep stress at bay. Practice Yoga and meditation. Practice Pranayama, the breathing and mental exercises have proven time and again successful for treatment of almost all kinds of chronic skin disorders. Never tend to control natural urges like urination, bowel, belching, farting etc.
